Clem E. Kress, 68, of Lewisville, Ohio passed away Sunday, November 4, 2018 at the Barnesville Hospital, Barnesville, Ohio.
He was born in Miltonsburg, Ohio on March 7, 1950 a son of Martha Burkhart Kress who survives of Woodsfield, Ohio and the late George W. Kress Sr.
He was a former coal miner and was also a retired building maintenance supervisor for the Monroe County Commissioners. He was a member of the St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Woodsfield, Ohio; a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam War; and a member of the American Legion Post 87, Woodsfield, Ohio.
Clem enjoyed camping, tinkering with mowers, playing cards at the Legion, and attending the grandkids sporting events. Clem was the type of guy who never met a stranger.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Kress, and a brother-in-law, Floyd “Butch” Griffin.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Sharon Brown Kress whom he married on April 20, 1974; one daughter, Anita (Jamie) Howell of Sardis, Ohio; one son, Brian (Marlena) Kress of Lewisville, Ohio; three sisters, Evelyn Griffin of Canton, Ohio, Helen (Jerry) Dillon of Canton, Ohio, Chris (Joe) Hoff of Woodsfield, Ohio; four brothers, Robert (Darlene) Kress of Burns Harbor, Indiana, Bill (Lori) Kress of Canton, Ohio, Ralph (Lucia) Kress of Bakersfield, California, George Kress Jr. of Bakersfield, California; three grandchildren, Isaac and Gavin Howell, Aubrey Kress; several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 8, 2018 with vigil services held at 7:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 9, 2018 at the St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Woodsfield, Ohio with Rev. David Gaydosik as the celebrant. Military services will be held at the end of Mass.
Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield, Ohio.
