Raymond E. Petty, 79, of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away Thursday, February 28, 2019 at the Arbors of Woodsfield, Ohio.
He was born near Antioch, Ohio on June 27, 1939 a son of the late Ralph Petty and Mildred Brown.
He was a retired fuel distributor and former owner of the Woodsfield Bottled Gas Company, Woodsfield, Ohio. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Woodsfield, Ohio; a U.S. Army veteran; a member of Monroe Lodge #189, F.& A.M., Woodsfield, Ohio; a member of Order of Eastern Star #268, Woodsfield, Ohio; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Cambridge, Ohio and served on the board of the Monroe County Airport Authority and the Woodsfield Savings Bank.
Raymond had his own airplane and enjoyed flying in his spare time, was an avid reader, and doing crossword puzzles. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Christman Petty on October 2, 2009; one brother, Charles “Fred” Petty; two sisters, Glenda Lohri and Sara Weddle Cleveland.
Surviving are two daughters, Kim (Carl) Whitacre of Graysville, Ohio, Krista Mann of Springfield, Virginia; three grandchildren, Carl Edward Whitacre, Caleb Mann, Addison Mann; and one great-grandson, Tyler Whitacre.
Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2019 where funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2019 with Chaplin Herb Alexander of Stonerise Home Hospice.
Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield, Ohio.

Masonic services will be held Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
