William “Bill” E. Simmons, 78, of Bethesda, Ohio passed away Saturday, April 13, 2019 at the Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, West Virginia.
He was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on December 11, 1940 a son of the late Thomas and Martha Elerick Simmons.
He was a retired truck driver and a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Barnesville V.F.W. and the American Legion where he participated with the Honor Guard in Belmont County.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, David Simmons and a brother, Robert Simmons.
Surviving are his wife, Tammy Johnson Simmons whom he married on April 30, 1999; one son, Michael (Cammie) Simmons of Collins, Ohio; three daughters, Amy (Jim) Adair of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Miranda (Charles) Krieger of St. Clairsville, Ohio, Antonia Simmons of the home; two sisters, Maxine Copeland of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Connie Simmons of Delray, Florida; one brother, Eugene (Florence) Simmons of Bloomingdale, Ohio; eight granddaughters; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; father and mother-in-law, Maynard (Rosa) Johnson of Jerusalem, Ohio; mother-in-law, Donna Slevin of Bridgeport, Ohio; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, David (Melissa) McCleary of Bethesda, Ohio.
Graveside services and military services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at the Johnson Family Cemetery, 49176 Ozark-Eddy Bridge Road, Jerusalem, Ohio with Pastor Thomas Detling officiating.
