George A. Kremer Sr. 89 passed away on September 10, 2011 at the Robley Rex VA Hospital in Louisville, KY.
George was born September 7, 1922 in Woodsfield, OH, one of 10 children of Judge and Mrs. T. J. Kremer. George graduated from Woodsfield High School in 1940 and received a Bachelor Degree from Ohio State University where he studied law.
George joined the Army Air Corps in 1944. He was attached to the 15th AAF and earned the rank of first lieutenant. He flew B24 Bomber combat missions during WWII while in Italy. George received The Distinguished Flying Cross as a result of his actions which saved his crew when shot down. George and two other crew members were captured and were held as prisoners of war for the remainder of the war.
George was married to Lois Eileen Ludwig on December 28, 1946 and had four children; Jeffery Kremer, Linda Kremer Pratt, George Andrew Kremer Jr., and Patricia Kremer Kay. He served as a field agent for the FBI in Washington DC.
George is survived by his sister Betty Kremer Edmonds of Richmond, VA; four children Jeffery, Linda, Andrew and Patricia; his seven grandchildren Rachael Pratt Wood, Jessica Pratt Mostert, Sabrina Sims Kredich, Kelly Sims Berry, T. J. Kremer, Andrew Philip Kremer, and Alexandra Suzana Kremer; two great-grandchildren Lucas and Emma Wood. He was preceded in death by his wife Eileen Ludwig Kremer, his siblings Hortense Kremer Arther, Fred Kremer, Theodore (Ted) Kremer, Ruth Kremer Gillespie, Eloise Kremer Decker, Margaret Kremer King, William (Bill) Kremer and John Kremer.
George will be placed at rest in Woodsfield, OH at Oaklawn Cemetery next to his wife Eileen. Services will be held at Oaklawn Cemetary Woodsfield, OH, at 1:00 pm on September 24, 2011.
