Esther, Please know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. I met Denny while you were my supervisor for JTPA the summer of 1985 and 1986. I remember going over to your house at lunch time for a cold bottle of pop and Denny having something positive to say each time. Troy and I both loved reading Around the Burnside, and especially the article in 2011 when he mentioned Monroe Central Volleyball Team, and how excited they were over the win....even the coach. His stories were always heartfelt and very touching. We will miss them. You will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers. What a wonderful man he was.

Esther and all,
We have such good memories when we think of Denny. 4-H Camp, R.O.E., helping him teach square dancing to groups of children who weren't too sure they wanted to learn, O.R.T organic recyclable trash, we can still see him measuring out the leftovers and hear him talking about not being wasteful, enjoying both of you singing with the Happy Hearts, sitting outside on a Friday night at home and hearing his voice come over the pa system announcing the game, "Around the Burnside", and most of all his faith in God and his ability to speak and write of it.
Monroe County is a better place because you folks came here. We wish we could do something to turn back time for just a little, but that is not our job. God knows best even if we can't understand. Denny would want us to go on and be happy because he is. Call us if we can help you in anyway. Love Bart and Joyce Wiggins

My sincere Sympathy to Mrs. Esther Easterling and all of the Easterling family for the loss of your Husband and Father, Denny Easterling. He was a great man an a very good friend of mine since 1970, as we were fellow Vocational Agriculture Teachers and FFA Advisers. I taught for 31 years at Meadowbrook High School at Byesville, Ohio. and I first met him when he was teacher at Sky view High school, and then at Swiss Hills Vocational School, as we both taught in the same Vocational Agriculture District, then. We would see each other, often, at FFA Contests and District meetings. He would always come to FFA Camp Muskingum, and help with the Camp program, even after he retired from teaching. He loved to work with his FFA members, always had a smile and funny story to tell. He was a good Christian man, and rest asured, his Soul went to Heaven to be with Jesus, his family and many friends. I will pray for Gods Blessing to comfort you, in your grief, in the loss of your loved one. God Bless all of you.

I am so sorry to hear about Denny. He was always so uplifting with a very positive attitude. I remember when I started as 4-H Agent, we work sorting calves at a feeder sale in Lancaster. Denny's humor kept us going during the night's work.

He left his mark with youth and will be missed,

God be with you during this time and forever!

I was so sorry to hear about Denny. I have good memories of him during my days living in Woodsfield. I ran into him on a visit a few years ago, he was as friendly as always. In fact he wrote about our short visit in his column.
He was a great guy and I'm sure will be missed by many.

We will celebrate his life and the impact he had on others. May God Bless the Easterling Family.

The entire community will surely miss Denny's presence in this world. We all could learn from his love of family, his many friendships, his emphasis on God's love and church attendance, and, of course, that wonderful storytelling of his---sprinkled with just the right sense of subtle humor. He has left a wonderful imprint on those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Denny was my favorite Uncle. I'll always remember him as fun. He loved to laugh at a good joke and he always made me feel welcome and glad to see me. Family reunions were always a great time with Denny's brothers and sisters (my other aunts and uncles). We (the kids) always had fun with Uncle Denny. He had a full life and he will be remembered.

I'm very sad today to pick up the Beacon and read of your loss. I live in Arkansas now and the paper gets to us about a week later than you all. I want you to know that Denny touched my life many times in 1983 and 1984 and of course with his column. He taught me to believe in myself and to never quit. Denny taught me and all my classmates to set goals and achieve them with honor and pride. Denny taught me how to be a leader and didn't even know he was doing it. Being a part of the FFA taught me so much in the two years I participated. I would have never competed in all those events without him giving me the confidence to do so. I joined the USAF and was a flying crew chief for 10 years. There wasn't a day that passed that I didn't hear Denny say do it right or don't do it at all. One of the biggest complements Denny ever gave me was when he told me that he never saw anyone play with such sportsmanship in a football game. I've never forgotten the day he told me that and I never will. He called the game that I'll never forget.
Denny was a great role model and I for sure wouldn't be where I'm at today if it wasn't for him. My grandson was born on the 7th of February this year. I someday will tell him about a man that taught me about Honor , Sportsmanship and never give up on yourself. I'm honored and proud to say that Denny Easterling was a part of my life. He will always live in my heart and I hope to be able to pass on what he taught me onto my staff and students. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Curt Valkovic.
