          Wayne E. McConnell, 78, of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away Monday, May 22, 2017 at Mt. Carmel West Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio.

          He was born near Woodsfield, Ohio on May 30, 1938 a son of the late Edwin and Vera Ault McConnell.

          He was a former inspection foreman at Conalco Corporation, Hannibal, Ohio and was an owner of the former Woodsfield Tire, Woodsfield, Ohio.  He was also a former employee at Buckeye Ford, London, Ohio. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was a member of the Woodsfield Church of Christ, Woodsfield, Ohio.

          Wayne enjoyed harness racing, feeding the birds and squirrels, was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Ohio State Buckeye fan.

          In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Wallace McConnell on February 16, 2012; one brother, Willard "Bid" McConnell; one sister, Darlene Warner; and a nephew, Bruce McConnell.

          Surviving are two daughters, Kelly Thomas and her fiancé Dan Isaly of Woodsfield, Ohio, Jenny (Mike) Legats of New Concord, Ohio; three sons, Richard "Richie" McConnell of Woodsfield, Ohio, Stephen (Lisa) McConnell of Arkansas, Nathan McConnell of Columbus, Ohio; one sister, Sharon (Dick) Harris of New Concord, Ohio; one brother, Dale McConnell of Meadowlands, Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren, Hunter and Alexis Thomas, Levi, Garrett, and Wyatt Brown, Elizabeth, Elaine, and Grant McConnell; several nieces and nephews.

          There will be no visitation or service. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield, Ohio.

          Memorial contributions may be made to Relay for Life of Guernsey County or to the Cancer Gas Cards Inc., c/o Shirley Brown, 48397 Keylor Hill Road, Woodsfield, Ohio 43793.

McConnell family, my deepest sympathy on the passing of Wayne. He was a very caring, kind, and thoughtful person. I don't think I ever saw him that he did not have that awe-some smile on his face. May God wrap his loving arms around you, and bring you comfort and peace.

Dear Ones,

My heart is saddened to learn that Wayne has passed away... What a wonderful Son, Brother, Husband, Father and Friend.. Wayne always had a beautiful smile... He always seemed to be so very happy.. I'll miss seeing him when I visit Woodsfield. I know he is in a better place and is with his love, Betty.. Sending lots of prayers and love to all of you.. God has his arms wrapped around all of you to help mend your broken hearts.
