Charles Powell Obituary

         Charles Alvin Powell, 83, of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away Saturday, August 3, 2019 at the Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, West Virginia.

          He was born in Wheeling, West Virginia on March 11, 1936 a son of the late Harold Lester Powell and Mary Catherine Marie Ryan Powell.

          He was a retired truck driver and coal miner. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Woodsfield, Ohio. He enjoyed carpentry work, deer hunting and spending time with his family.

          In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Edward Powell and John Samuel Powell; one sister, Clara Jean Sherrin.

          Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Kay Talbot Powell whom he married on June 8, 1980; four daughters, Julie (Tom) Thames of Moundsville, West Virginia, Cindy (Steve) Williams of Shadyside, Ohio, Bobbi Dawn (Buddy) Panyko of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Char (Tim) Campbell of Shadyside, Ohio; one son, Chad (Megan) Powell of Woodsfield, Ohio; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

          There will be no visitation. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 9, 2019 at the First Baptist Church, 114 N. Paul Street, Woodsfield, Ohio with Pastor T.J. Milam officiating. Inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family.
