Rollin J. Monter, 69, of Woodsfield, Ohio (formerly of Alliance, Ohio) passed away Friday, December 21, 2018 at the OSU Wexner Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio.
He was born in Canton, Ohio on May 24, 1949 a son of the late Austin and Catherine Thompson Monter.
Rollin was a self-employed contractor and bricklayer. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Temperanceville, Ohio and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Monter.
Surviving are two sisters, Mary Kay (Art) Lerma of Findlay, Ohio, Carol Ann (Frank) Seruch of Beloit, Ohio; one brother, Richard (Cathy) Monter of Uniontown, Ohio; five nephews, Aaron Monter, Jason Monter, Brian (Gabe) Lerma, Nicholas (Andrea) Monter, and Stephen Monter; a Goddaughter and niece, Jennifer Lerma; a special friend and kidney donor, Dawn Shade; a grand-niece, grand-nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2018.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 27, 2018 at St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Woodsfield, Ohio with Rev. Fr. David Gaydosik as the celebrant. Military services will be held at the conclusion of the Mass.
Burial will follow in the St. Sylvester Catholic Church Cemetery, Woodsfield, Ohio.
Vigil services will be held at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
