        George E. West, 85, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio (formerly of Woodsfield, Ohio) passed away Sunday, August 19, 2018 at the Mt. Carmel East Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio.

          He was born near Woodsfield, Ohio on January 13, 1933 a son of the late Russell and Evelyn Lohri West.

          George was a retired employee of the Ormet Corporation, Hannibal, Ohio and was a member of the Woodsfield Church of Christ, Woodsfield, Ohio.  He was also a U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and spending time with family.

          In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Rosenlieb West on August 18, 1996; two brothers, Myron West and David Lee West; a son-in-law Donald Bowen.

          Surviving are his wife, Carol A. McLaughlin West whom he married on May 28, 1997; two daughters, Gala Brown of Woodsfield, Ohio, Tammy Bowen of Lake Alfred, Florida; two step-sons, Thomas Piper Jr. of Ashville, Ohio, Robert (Jeanette) Piper of Orient, Ohio; one step-daughter, Kelly Piper of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; one brother, Roger (Kay) West of Woodsfield, Ohio; five grandchildren, Nathan Brown, Elizabeth Collazo, Renae Floyd, Ethan Bowen, Rachel Bowen; three great grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two great step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

          Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 11:00 a.m. until time of military and funeral services at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 23, 2018 with Keith Jones officiating.

          Burial will follow in the Plainview Cemetery near Woodsfield, Ohio.

SO very SORRY to read of my neighbor and Friends passing . George was a Gentleman in every aspect of life ! We were just wondering about him a few weeks ago .GOD BLESS this FAMILY at these sad moments !

West Family, my deepest sympathy on the passing of George. I never saw him that he did not have a smile on his face, and would go out of his way to speak to you-such a gentleman and friend to many. I will be unable to come to calling hours, but all of you will be in my thoughts and prayers.
