Bruce A. Climer

          Bruce A. Climer, 75. Of Jerusalem, Ohio passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021 at the Barnesville Hospital, Barnesville, Ohio.

     He was born on November 5, 1945, in Chillicothe, Ohio a son of the late Robert A. and Julia A. Holcomb Climer.

     Bruce was a 1963 graduate of Washington High School, Washington Court House, Ohio.  He was a United States Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam Era (1965-1969) stationed at the NATO base in Naples, Italy and served aboard the heavy cruiser USS Newport News CA148 as a CYN3 encryption specialist with the highest of security clearance.

     In his younger days he enjoyed playing baseball, softball and basketball.  In his later years he enjoyed playing golf.  He was a previous youth baseball coach at West Jefferson, Ohio and Woodsfield, Ohio, a youth basketball coach at St. Sylvester School, Woodsfield, Ohio and freshman basketball coach at Woodsfield High School.  He was also an avid Ohio State football fan.

     He retired from the Citizens National Bank of Woodsfield, Ohio as Vice-President after 25 years and was a previous board member.

     He loved to tell a good joke and make people laugh, especially his granddaughters.

     Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Kathy D. (Brown) Climer; his first wife, Janet Payton Climer and their two children Kristin (Robert) Greene and Collin (Amy) Climer all of Cincinnati, Ohio; three granddaughters, Logan Greene, Madeline Climer and Grace Ann Climer all of Cincinnati, Ohio; sisters, Martha Coverston of Tallahassee, Florida and Cathy King of Washington Court House, Ohio; two nieces and two nephews.

     Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home,37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, June 12,2021 where a Celebration of Life service will be held at 8:00 p.m.

     Graveside services with military honors will be held at the Bush Cemetery near Malaga, Ohio at a later date.
