Charles D. Hercher, 71, of Fairfield Glade, Tennessee (formerly of the Sycamore Valley Community) passed away Saturday, May 15, 2021 at St. Thomas West Hospital, Nashville, Tennessee.
He was born in Marietta, Ohio on June 30, 1949 a son of the late Clessen and Pauline Ring Hercher.
Charles was a 1967 graduate of Skyvue High School, Graysville, Ohio and a 1971 graduate of Marietta College, Marietta, Ohio with a Bachelor of Science degree in petroleum engineering. Charles was president of C.D. Hercher and Associates, Inc., engaging in exploration and development of petroleum reserves in the Appalachian Basin and developing and operating natural gas public utilities. He retired as General Manager of the Upper Cumberland Gas Utility District.
He was a member of the Crossville Church of Christ and enjoyed spending time with family, friends and going out to eat.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a niece, Melinda Hines and a niece-in-law, Christine Marie Hines.
Charles is survived by a sister, Joyce A. (Robert) Hines; a niece, Julie A. (Daniel) Hines and their children, Haley, Dylan and Justin; a nephew, Michael L. (Rita) Hines and their children, Heather and Renee Hines; Nathan (fiancé Rebecca) Mugford and their children, Katelyn, Brayden, Jack and Claire; Jacob (Terri Lynn) Mugford and their children, Mackenzie and Logan; Michael (Amanda) and their children, Audrey, Aaron, Elijah, Lincoln and Jameson; and Adam Mugford.
Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio on Saturday, September 11, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. where a Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. with Howard Spengler officiating.
All are welcome to enjoy a fellowship meal at the Woodsfield Church of Christ following the service.
