Charles D. “Danny” Longwell, 68, of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away Thursday, July 30, 2020 at the Marietta Memorial Hospital, Marietta, Ohio.
He was born in New Martinsville, West Virginia on April 14, 1952 a son of the late Charles and Alice McPeek Longwell.
He was a retired coal miner and a member of the First United Methodist Church, Woodsfield, Ohio. He was also a member of Monroe Lodge 189, F. & A.M. Woodsfield, Ohio and the Clarington Lodge F. & A.M. Clarington, Ohio; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Cambridge, Ohio; Osiris Shrine Temple, Wheeling, West Virginia; Loyal Order of Moose, Woodsfield, Ohio; Fraternal Order of Eagles, Woodsfield and auxiliary member of the V.F.W. Post 5303, Woodsfield, Ohio.
He enjoyed gardening and was a social butterfly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Longwell and three sons, Charles Daniel Longwell, Jason White, and Timothy White.
Surviving are his wife Kathryn Hart Longwell whom he married on March 10, 1997; one daughter, Virginia Wellman of Duffy, Ohio; three sons, Anthony James Longwell of Sardis, Ohio, Carl Edward Stewart of Sardis, Ohio, Josh (Renea) White of Middlebourne, West Virginia; two sisters, Anita (Larry) Lemon on New Martinsville, West Virginia, Linda (John) Vargo of Arizona; one brother, Floyd Longwell and companion Ann Block of Woodsfield, Ohio; several grandchildren; great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 3, 2020, where social distancing will be observed and face coverings are encouraged.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Sardis, Ohio with Rev. David Cottrill and Jordan Vargo officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78, Woodsfield, Ohio to help the family with funeral expenses.
