Charles W. Burkhart, 82, of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away Thursday, December 26, 2024 at the Stellar Care Center, Woodsfield, Ohio.
He was born at Woodsfield, Ohio on February 6, 1942 a son of the late Ernest and Lillian Schaub Burkhart.
Charles was a retired coal miner and a member of the United Mine Workers Association. He was a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Woodsfield, Ohio. and was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam Era. He was also a member of the V.F.W. Post 5303, Woodsfield, Ohio.
Charles enjoyed metal detecting in his spare time and taking walks around town.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth “Mail Pouch” Burkhart; a step-daughter, Christina Thompson; a niece, Elizabeth “Beth” Burkhart; two nephews, Jimmy and Tony Burkhart.
Surviving are a sister, Mary Logston of Jerusalem, Ohio; his step-children, Deanna Wilhelm, Marsha Keevert, Rebecca Copley all of Woodsfield, Ohio; several step-grandchildren; a niece Debbie Burkhart and two nephews, Tom Logston and Brian Logston; a special friend, Don Smith of Brownsville, Ohio.
Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2024 with vigil services at 7:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Woodsfield, Ohio with Rev. Fr. Nick Ward at the celebrant.
Burial with full military graveside services will follow in the St. Sylvester Catholic Cemetery, Woodsfield, Ohio.
