Deborah E. VanSkiver Block

    Deborah E. VanSkiver Block, 69, of Miltonsburg, Ohio passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at the Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, West Virginia due to complications of COVID-19.

     She was born at Baltimore, Maryland on December 8, 1950 a daughter of M. Maxine Bookhammer Keevert who survives of Woodsfield, Ohio and the late Walter VanSkiver.

     Deb was a homemaker and day care provider. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Miltonsburg, Ohio where she was a member of the Catholic Womens Club; a member of the American Legion Post 87 Ladies Auxiliary; Noble County Cruisers; and the central Ohio GTO Club.

     She enjoyed baking and spending time with her grandkids which were a big part of her life.

     In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Ralph Keevert; father-in-law and mother-in-law Francis and Edith Block; three brothers- in-law, Virgil Block, Charles White and Terry Neff; and a niece, Christina Nixon.

     In addition to her mother she is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Joseph Block whom she married June 6, 1970; two daughters, Maria (Shane) Mauger of Westerville, Ohio, Teresa (David) McMillan of Miltonsburg, Ohio; one son, Joe (Christi) Block of Pickerington, Ohio; seven sisters, Jeanneane (Darren) Robbins of Woodsfield, Ohio; Cathy (Gordon) Bippus of Woodsfield, Ohio, Bonnie (Steve) Cook of St. Petersburg, Florida, D. Rebecca (Thomas) Stephen of Miltonsburg, Ohio, Jennifer Woodell of Columbus, Ohio, Buffy (Joe) Heran of New Matamoras, Ohio, Bobet King of Marietta, Ohio; two brothers, Walter VanSkiver of Tennessee, Shawn (Elaine) Howell of Woodsfield, Ohio; step-siblings, Ronnie Keevert, Patty Maddux, Dewane Evans; thirteen grandchildren, Erica Sims, Lyndsie Fortin, Tyler Sims, Zachary Sims, Thomas Block, Olivia Merew, Jessie Block, Cullin Smith, Samantha Merew, Wyatt Mauger, Avery Fortin, Wesly Mauger, Kayla Block; two great-grandchildren, Jadeyn Jackson, Paisley McGregor; several nieces and nephews.

     A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 14, 2020 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Miltonsburg, Ohio with Fr. Chester Pabin as the celebrant, where social distancing will be observed and face coverings are encouraged.

     Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.
