Donald D. Brown, 82, of Graysville, Ohio passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at the Ohio State East Hospital, Columbus, Ohio.
He was born at Stafford, Ohio on May 12, 1942, a son of the late Clyde and Stella Thompson Brown.
Don was a retired laborer of the former Ormet Corporation, Hannibal, Ohio; former Mayor of Graysville, Ohio; a former employee of Frontier Construction, Marietta, Ohio and was a former well tender for Hercher Oil and a former employee of Christmans Quarry.
He was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ, Graysville, Ohio; a member of the Ormet Retirees Group; a founding member of the Graysville & Community Volunteer Fire Department; a founding member of the Bethel-Graysville EMS; a trustee for the Washington County Co-Op and was a former member of the Antioch EMS.
Don was an avid O.S.U. and Steelers fan. He also enjoyed hunting in his spare time. He was a former coach for Strata Slow Pitch softball in Graysville, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Katherine Hanlon, Ora Wallace, Mary Bartlett and Alice Sercich; four brothers, Twin Ronald Brown, Robert Brown, William “Billy” Brown and Melvin Brown.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Wise Brown whom he married on September 15, 1962; one son, Russell (Melissa) Brown of Graysville, Ohio; three daughters, Cheryl Brown of Marietta, Ohio, Barbara (Danni Hieles) Brown of Galloway, Ohio, April Brown of Dublin, Ohio; four grandchildren, Jessica Batt, Meryl Hadlock, Isabella Brown, Sydney Lochary; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78, Woodsfield, Ohio from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, February 16, 2025 where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 17th, 2025, with Rodney Bettinger officiating.
Burial will follow in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near Graysville, Ohio.
