Donald E. Hartshorn, 88, of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away Thursday, May 4, 2023 at the Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glendale, West Virginia.
He was born near Sycamore Valley, Ohio on August 10, 1934 a son of the late Chauncey and Nellie Hines Hartshorn.
Don was a retired General Foreman for the former Ormet Corp; Hannibal, Ohio; a former cable installer for the former Woodsfield Cable Co.; a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the Woodsfield Christian Church, Woodsfield, Ohio.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids, mowing and taking care of the gardens, camping and spending time at the lake and watching Cleveland baseball and spending time in Florida during the winter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Emily Ann Hartshorn whom he married on January 21, 1956; a daughter Deb Schumacher; infant son, Terry Hartshorn; a brother Charles Hartshorn; three sisters, Carolyn Hartshorn Kindle, Eileen Stevens, infant Marlene Hartshorn; grandson Daniel Ludwig and son in law, Glenn Ludwig.
Surviving are two daughters Cheryl Ludwig; Julie Winland both of Woodsfield, Ohio son-in-law Perry Schumacher of Woodsfield, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Jason Ludwig, Brad (Dr. Alisha) Ludwig, Allison (Andrew) Juszczak, Aaron (Jerrica) Winland, Andrew (Lynsey) Schumacher, Leah (Cass) Clift, Kelly Winland and fiancé Rob Lumbatis; several great-grandchildren, Lacy Ludwig, Lawson Ludwig, Ivory Ludwig, Rylar Clift, Malcolm Schumacher, Theodore Juszczak, baby Clift due in May and baby Lumbatis due in July; several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2023 with Pastor Brad Postle officiating. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield, Ohio with military services.
