Donald E. Hercher, 70, of Sycamore Valley, Ohio passed away peacefully Monday, February 18, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with myelodysplastic syndrome (leukemia).
He was born in Marietta, Ohio on August 25, 1948 a son of Elmer and Myrtle Kehl Hercher, who survive of Tucson, Arizona.
Don grew up in Sycamore Valley, Ohio, where he resided and was a 1966 graduate of Skyvue High School. He formerly worked at Remington Rand/Kardex, in Reno, Ohio before he became a dairy farmer with his wife Judy on the family farm. He formerly served as a Bethel Township Trustee and was self-employed in the oil and gas business which he truly enjoyed. His passion for the oil and gas business was something that was passed down through his family. Don was an avid Fox News Watcher and was always willing and ready to help his neighbors. He always enjoyed spending time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his loving wife of 49 years, Judy Heft Hercher; three daughters, Missy (Greg) Alleman of Sycamore Valley, Ohio; Shelly (Erin) Curtis of Bloomfield, Ohio, Tiffany (Shane) English of Sycamore Valley, Ohio; one brother, Richard ( Yvonne) Hercher of Tucson, Arizona; one sister, Glenna Dennis of Marietta, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Seth and Chad Alleman, Lane (Josie) Curtis, Cala Curtis, Corby Curtis, Tice Curtis, Kyra and Jacey English; several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, February 24, 2019 where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 25, 2019 with his son-in-law Erin Curtis officiating.
Burial will follow in the Creighton Ridge Cemetery, near Sycamore Valley, Ohio.
