Edmund C. Byers

     Edmund C. Byers, 78, of Lewisville, Ohio passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at his home.

     He was born in Ft. Hayes, Kansas on August 13, 1945 a son of the late Charles L. and Elma H. Thompson Byers.

     Edmund was a graduate of Skyvue High School and also The Ohio State University. He was a retired school teacher for the Switzerland of Ohio Local School District with 33 years of teaching. Ed was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Carlisle, Ohio where he was a member of the Holy Name Society.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James L. and Billy Jo Byers; father-in-law, Fred McLaughlin and mother- in—law, Ursula McLaughlin.

     Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Rita McLaughlin Byers whom he married on August 25, 1973; five children, Dorinda (Eddy) Biehl, Theresa (Will) Yaple, Sarah (Darin) Burkhart, Charles and Stephen Byers; four grandchildren, Cierra Burkhart, Braxton, Brielle and Brooks Byers and many extended family members.

     As per Ed’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Private services will be held at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio with Fr. Tom Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery, Carlisle, Ohio.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to St. Michael Catholic Church.
