Eugene C. Fitch

             Eugene C. Fitch, 71, of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

            He was born at Barnesville, Ohio on November 13, 1949 a son of the late Cecil M. and Virginia Dunfee Fitch.

            He was a 1968 graduate of Union Local High School, Morristown, Ohio,

            In his earlier years he was former painter and worked for Harley Warrick, of Belmont, Ohio; a former employee of Ohio Ferro Alloys, Powhatan, Ohio; and was former employee of the Paden City True Value and the Woodsfield True Value. He was also a former employee for the Adams Township Trustee in Monroe County and later became an elected Trustee for Adams Township. He was a member of Christian Church, Centerville, Ohio.

            He enjoyed antique tractors and tractor pulls. The biggest thrill of his life was being asked to pull Roger Starr’s tractor at a tractor pull in Woodsfield, Ohio. His love of tractors came from working side by side with his father on the family farm in Centerville, Ohio. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.

            Surviving are his wife, Sandra K. Hall Fitch whom he married June 14, 1969; one daughter, Dawna (Darren) Grubb of Woodsfield, Ohio; one sister, Betty Ann Hess of Centerville, Ohio; three grandchildren, Darrien Grubb and her companion Gavin Coleman, Brookelynn Grubb, Dalton Grubb.

            Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 2021 where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 29, 2021 with Herb Alexander of the Grace Christian Church, Woodsfield, Ohio officiating.      

            Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield, Ohio.

            In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to Crossed Paws Animal Shelter, 41383 Stonehouse Road Woodsfield, Ohio 43793. Along with his love for family and tractors. He had such a tender heart for animals. So maybe his passing could benefit animals that are waiting for their forever home.
