Foster E. Whitacre, 94, of New Matamoras, Ohio (Rinard Mills Community) passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at the Marietta Memorial Hospital, Marietta, Ohio.
He was born in Whitacre, Virginia on June 3, 1924 a son of the late John and Minnie Rose Whitacre.
He was a graduate of the Ohio State University with a degree in Education. He was also a former master mechanic for Walker Machinery, Parkersburg, West Virginia with 17 years of service and retired as an agricultural/industrial vocational instructor at the Washington County Vocational School, Marietta, Ohio. He was a U.S. Army veteran of W.W. II. He also enjoyed farming and wood crafting.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Jean Whitacre on February 21, 2016; two brothers, John L. and Frank Whitacre; and one sister, Almeda Starling.
Surviving are three sons, Dale (Debbie) Whitacre, Keith (Bonnie Grinnell) Whitacre, Daniel (Chris) Whitacre; one daughter, Emily (Ralph) Paulus; thirteen grandchildren, Nathan (Michelle) Whitacre, Amy (Reuben) Datkuliak, Lisa (Tony) Treadway, Gene (Julia) Paulus,
Laura (Daniel) Schwartz, William Paulus, Andrew (Julie) Paulus, Joey (Lisa) Whitacre, Mindy (Josh) Mays, Preston Wriston, Josh Whitacre, Jon and Hannah Dewitt; eleven great-grandchildren, Annabelle Whitacre, Carma and Karalina Datkuliak, Brayden, Cody, and Alison Treadway, Averie Jo Whitacre, Katylynn and Hunter Mays, Thomas Paulus, Elise Schwartz.
Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2019 where funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, February 3, 2019 with Lloyd Westbrook officiating.
Burial will follow in the Creighton Ridge Cemetery near Sycamore Valley, Ohio.
