George F. Black, 79, of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away Friday, January 7, 2022 at the Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, W.Va.
He was born at Attica, Indiana on January 9, 1942 a son of the late Dorothy Black.
He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam Era. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and the Shrine. . He was also a member of V.F.W. Post 5303, Woodsfield, Ohio.
He enjoyed fishing with his son, hunting, bowling, playing cards / poker with his friends, enjoyed wood crafting and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a son, Billy Black; a brother, William Lowe.
Surviving are his wife, Cathy Deslaurier Black whom he married October 5, 1963; a daughter, Dawn Gaddis of Canton, Ohio; one son Troy Black and fiancé, Virginia Wellman of Duffy, Ohio; three sisters, Pat Oteham of Indiana; Sue Lowe of Texas; Judy Whitington of Indiana; seven grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
There will be no visitation or service. Following cremation, inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family.
