Gilbert E. Briggs, 84, of Woodsfield, Ohio (formerly of Lewisville, Ohio) passed away Monday, January 11, 2021 at the Arbors of Woodsfield, Ohio.
He was born near Antioch, Ohio on May 18, 1936 a son of the late James Lawrence Briggs and Minnie Williams Briggs.
Gilbert was a retired Millwright at the former Ormet Corporation, Hannibal, Ohio and a member of the Lewisville United Methodist Church, Lewisville, Ohio. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp. during the Vietnam Era. He enjoyed fishing and traveling.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Mary Macenko Briggs and his 2nd wife, Emmie Briggs; a sister, Jessie Haught; three half-sisters, Alice Stull, Geneva Carpenter, and Goldie Stull; two half-brothers, David Briggs and Lawrence Briggs.
Surviving are a daughter, Pamela Briggs of Woodsfield, Ohio and his grand fur-baby, Chance.
Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78, Woodsfield, Ohio from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January, 14, 2021 where funeral and military services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 15, 2021 with Rev. William Abrams officiating with social distancing and facial coverings encouraged.
Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery, Lewisville, Ohio.
