Glenn H. Ayers, 81, of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away Thursday, December 2, 2021 at the Barnesville Hospital, Barnesville, Ohio.
He was born near Farmington, Ohio on August 1, 1940 a son of the late George and Francis Cope Ayers.
He was a graduate of Ohio University, Athens, Ohio and received his Master’s Degree in Education from Kent State University, Kent, Ohio. He was a retired principal for the Switzerland of Ohio School District from 1972 – 1994 having previously served as Principal at Beallsville Elementary School. He also was a teacher serving several Ohio and West Virginia schools such as Fairpoint, Martins Ferry and Moundsville Elementary School.
He was a Methodist by Faith; and was a member of Monroe Lodge 189, F. & A.M., Woodsfield, Ohio and a former council member for the Village of Woodsfield, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Robert Ayers; a sister, Mary Jean Lucas; a nephew and a niece.
Surviving are his wife, Beth Ady Ayers whom he married on March 29, 1972; one son Michael Glenn Ayers and his fiancé Christine Truax of Woodsfield, Ohio; one daughter Michele Ann Ayers and her fiancé Jeffrey Newland of Woodsfield, Ohio; a grandson Michael Allen Newland; a brother-in-law Roy Lucas of Colerain, Ohio; one niece and one nephew.
Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, December 5, 2021.
Graveside services at 1:00 p.m. Monday at the Farmington Cemetery, Barton, Ohio.
Masonic services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Funeral Home.
