Goldie M. Long, 96, of St. Marys, West Virginia (formerly of Woodsfield, Ohio) passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the Legacy of Marietta, Ohio.
She was born near Marietta, Ohio on September 26, 1927, a daughter of the late Milton and Katie Knutty Eddy.
Goldie was a retired office clerk for the Monroe County Auditors Office and also the Monroe County Probate Court, Woodsfield, Ohio. She was also a member of the Waverly Church of Christ. She was a devoted wife and mother, and her life revolved around her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil L. Long on November 21, 1998; a sister, Glenda Westbrook; eight brothers, Harold, Marvel, Dean, Virgil, Karl, Russell, Oran, and Rex Eddy; a daughter-in-law, Monica Long; and a granddaughter, Callie Huffman.
Surviving are two daughters, Virginia (Larry) Brown of Belpre, Ohio, and Linda (Rick) Huffman of Burlison, Tennessee; three sons, Larry (Donna) Long of Searcy, Arkansas, Bill Long and his companion Sherry Zwick of Woodsfield, Ohio, and Bob (Peach) Long of Waverly, West Virginia; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 8, 2024, and from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 9, 2024, with Dale Parsley officiating. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Woodsfield, Ohio.
