Jacob C. “Jake” Smithberger, 76, of Lewisville, Ohio passed away Sunday, October 10, 2021 at the V.A. Medical Center, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
He was born at Woodsfield, Ohio on December 10, 1944 a son of the late Nelson and Ella Zwick Smithberger.
He was a former co-owner of the former Smithberger Sawmill near Lewisville, Ohio; was a member of the American Legion, Post 87, Woodsfield, Ohio and was a Catholic by faith. He was also a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.
He enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting and going to the race track.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eiko Gaja Smithberger; a sister, Donna Mae Bolon and a granddaughter, Deanna Smithberger.
Surviving are two daughters, Cynthia Lyden of Woodsfield, Ohio, Tess Hill of Woodsfield, Ohio; two brothers, Jim Smithberger of Lewisville, Ohio, Kiven (Melissa) Smithberger of Clarington, Ohio; one sister, Nina (Daryl) Highman of Senecaville, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Tyler Graham, Cortney Gallicchio, Jacob Hill, Kory Hill, Camden Hill, Dustin Graham, Macey Sprouse; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 16, 2021.
Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery, Lewisville, Ohio with military graveside honors.
