Janet S. Winland

Janet S. Winland, 89, of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at the Barnesville Hospital, Barnesville, Ohio.

She was born near Woodsfield, Ohio on May 4, 1934 a daughter of the late Ralph and Laura Hamilton Bach.

Janet was a homemaker and a member of the Jackson Ridge Church of Christ near Woodsfield, Ohio.

She enjoyed working word puzzles and cross word puzzles. She was also an avid animal lover and is survived by her loving cat, “Buckeye”.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Ralph Young and a sister-in-law Marcia Bach.

Surviving are her husband, Max E. Winland whom she married on June 17, 1956; one son, Murray “Kevin” (Madelyn) Winland of Marietta, Ohio; one daughter, Marci “Kay” (Taemin) Surh of San Carlos, California; one sister, Connie Young of Lewisville, Ohio; two brothers, Kenneth (Sandy) Bach of Marietta, Ohio, Dana Bach of Marietta, Ohio; three grandchildren, Michael (Kimberly) Surh, Gregory (Jill) Surh, Bradley (Ariel) Surh; one great-grandchild, Evangelina Surh; one aunt Sarah Kreig; several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 13, 2023 where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2023 with Sam Bartrug officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery near Woodsfield, Ohio.
