Janette “Justine” Lee Marple, 71, of Canal Winchester, Ohio, passed away May 2, 2023 at home under hospice care, surrounded by family and friends. She was born February 19, 1952, in Columbus, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her father Fred Root and mother Marcia Howard. Janette is survived by her husband of 33 years David Marple. Also surviving are sisters LouAnne Rieser, Renee (Wayne) Fought, Tammy (Darin) Hupp, Lisa Lamalmi and stepfamily Roger (Ellen) Howard, Chad (Rachel) Howard, Steve (Dee) Howard. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Janette was an AT&T long distance operator for 23 years. After early retirement, she made beautiful, custom jewelry under the name Prosperity Creations. Janette attended the Sand, Sea and Spirit (SSS) retreat in Gulf Shores, Alabama for over 25 years. Through SSS, she developed many wonderful, lasting friendships. Janette loved nature, wildlife, the beach, reading fiction and doing artwork (jewelry, watercolor painting, crafts). She especially loved her four-legged “children” (her kitties). Janette was so passionate about animal rights that she became a vegetarian, and eventually a vegan.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, May 12, 2023 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the Wagnalls Memorial Library in Lithopolis, Ohio. The date and time will be posted on Facebook. Instead of flowers, please consider contributions in Janette’s memory to any animal shelter.
