John S. Altizer Jr.

     John S. Altizer Jr., 90, of Woodsfield, Ohio (Cameron Community) passed away Sunday, February 23, 2020 at his home.

     He was born in Belle, Missouri on October 9, 1929 a son of the late John Altizer Sr. and Elsie Sutherland Altizer.

     He was a retired harness horse trainer and driver. He was also a member of the United States Trotting Association and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Virgil and Robert Altizer; two sisters, Alice Formea and Virginia Dixon; and a daughter-in-law, Jodi Altizer.

     Surviving are his wife, Carol Sue Johnson Altizer whom he married September 16, 1963; one son, John Altizer of Cameron, Ohio; one daughter, Laura (Michael) Dolan of Fredericksburg, Virginia; one brother, Johnnie Altizer of Buffalo, New York; one sister, Lanora Walker of Trenton, Nebraska; five grandchildren, Sonya Altizer, Tanya Altizer, Bradley Heater, Lindsay Dolan, and John Michael Dolan; four great-grandchildren, Crimson Altizer, Braxton Heater, Jaxon Heater, and Louisa Heater.

     There will be no visitation or service.

     Inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family.

     Arrangements entrusted to the care of Watters Funeral Home, Woodsfield, Ohio.
