Joseph A. Dick

Joseph Andrew Dick, 72, of Lewisville, Ohio passed away Thursday, July 14, 2022, at Marietta Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his children.

He was born near Lewisville, Ohio on April 20, 1950, a son of Freda Smithberger Dick who survives of Lewisville, Ohio and the late Clarence Andrew Dick.

He worked most of his life as a farmer, raising beef for local customers and the open market. He also spent many years growing hundreds of acres of tobacco. He was employed at Baker & Sons in the 1970s where he worked as a mechanic and service professional. He worked various other jobs from service rigs, to driving dump truck, to working at a stave mill. Farming was more than a job for him; it was a way of life. His pastime included working on and restoring old tractors and machines. A man with a loving heart that worked tirelessly to support and protect his family, and always found time to help anyone in need. He was a member of the former St. Joseph Catholic Church near Lewisville, Ohio. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Surviving in addition to his mother are three children, Joseph Adam Dick, Christina Dick (Dane Merckle), Kimberly (Justin) Roberts; three grandchildren, Kolton Merckle, Jase Roberts, Karson Roberts; two sisters, Mary (Rodney) Butler of Calais, Ohio, Judy (Troy) Russell of Beallsville, Ohio; four brothers, Neil (Carolyn) Dick of Lewisville, Ohio, Mike Dick of Graysville, Ohio, Louie Dick of Lewisville, Ohio, Stephen Dick (Lisa Ferguson-Craig) of Lewisville, Ohio; several nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Clarence Andrew Dick, and his brothers, John G. Dick of Lewisville. Ohio, and James R. Dick of Lewisville, Ohio.

Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2022 where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2022 with Rev. Fr. Chester Pabin officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery near Lewisville, Ohio.
