Joseph Lee Pierce, 80, of Byesville, Ohio passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge, Ohio surrounded by his family.
He was born in Calais, Ohio on March 6, 1939 a son of the late Mansel and Olive Hayes Pierce.
Joe was a retired operator for the B & N Coal Company, Dexter City, Ohio and honorably served his country as a U.S. Army veteran. He was also a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 2901, Cambridge, Ohio. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and farming in his spare time.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby Lincicome Pierce; five sisters, Emma Jean Schlosser, Ocie McFrederick, Melba Carpenter, Laura Stephens and Connie Pierce; two brothers, John and Byrol Pierce.
Surviving are his wife, Vicki Dillon Pierce; two daughters, Cindy (Jim) Church of Pleasant City, Ohio; Valerie Nelson of Zanesville, Ohio; two sons, Randy Pierce of Summerfield, Florida, Kelly (Kelly) Nicholson of Grove City, Ohio; two brothers, Roy Pierce of Killbuck, Ohio, Bob (Peg) Pierce of Salesville, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Charlie Stephens of Calais, Ohio; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 11:00 a.m. until time of military and funeral services at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 16, 2019 with Pastor Doug Delong officiating.
Burial will follow in the Calais Cemetery, Calais, Ohio.
