Lee Snoke, 93, formerly of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
He was born on September 29, 1925, in Brooklyn New York a son of the late Charles and Florentine (Sommer) Snoke.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife June Snoke; one brother William Snoke; and two sisters Martha Meyer and Dorothy Carney.
When his favorite team the Brooklyn Dodgers left town in 1957, he moved to Woodsfield to work at the new Ormet Plant, Hannibal, Ohio. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps during World War II at the age of 18. He was a member of the former Woodsfield Lion’s Club and worked on community projects such as construction of Woodsfield’s swimming pool. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and recently became an avid Wii bowler.
Surviving are a son Charlie (Molly) Snoke; two grandsons Christopher (Nicole) Snoke and Carson Snoke; and one great-grandson Brandon Snoke, all in Pittsburgh PA.
Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from noon to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2019. Graveside services will immediately follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield, Ohio with Pastor David Cottrell officiating.
