Lillie May Swarthout, 84, of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away peacefully on Monday, December 2, 2024 at the Stellar Care Center, Woodsfield, Ohio.
She was born at Stafford, Ohio on June 27, 1940 a daughter of the late Harry and Bernice Morton McConnell.
Lillie’s passing is an enormous loss for all who loved her, but the family is grateful she is at peace and no longer suffering.
Lillie will be remembered for her loving heart, kind smile and her devotion to family.
She was a former volunteer for 20 years at M.A.C O.., Woodsfield, Ohio and was a member of the Woodsfield Church of Christ, Woodsfield, Ohio.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, crocheting beautiful afghans, playing golf and taking long walks. In her later years she found pleasure sitting in her little rocking chair on her front porch, watching the hummingbirds.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Lori Ann Swarthout and a sister, Betty Freitag.
Members of her surviving family include her loving husband of 65 years, James P. Swarthout Sr., a son, James E. Swarthout and his wife, Michelle; her sister, Evelyn Wei; her grandchildren, Tyler and Ellie Swarthout; several nieces and nephews.
Abiding by Lil’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Following cremation, inurnment will be held at a later date at the Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield, Ohio.
