Marvin Dimmerling Obituary

     Marvin Charles Dimmerling, 76, of Summerfield, Ohio (Carlisle Community) passed away Thursday, April 9, 2020 at his home.

     He was born May 14, 1943 in Carlisle, Ohio a son of the late Francis and Emma (Kuhn) Dimmerling.

     Marvin owned and operated Dimmerling Dairy Farm for 40 years and in 1976 he was named “Farmer of the Year” by the Noble County Chamber of Commerce. He was a lifetime member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Carlisle where he was also a member of the Holy Name Society. He served in the Ohio National Guard and was also a Stock Township Trustee for many years.

     Upon retiring, Marvin was able to enjoy things at a slower pace. He was happiest outside mowing or still helping on the farm. He valued time spent with family, friends and neighbors.

     In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son Rick Dimmerling; two sisters Melba Hupp and Ruth Warner; two brothers-in-law, Tom Poland and Mick Carpenter.

     Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 54 years, Darlene S. (Thompson) Dimmerling, whom he married September 4, 1965; two sons, Duane Dimmerling and Michael (Valerie) Dimmerling; grandchildren, Jordan (Adam) Cline, Tyson (Candice) Dimmerling, Mitchell (Adrianne) Dimmerling, Joshua Dimmerling, Alexandrea Dimmerling, Danyel Dimmerling, Faith Dimmerling; great-grandchildren Rixton, Maddix, Peyton and Adalee Dimmerling; four sisters, Jean (Larry) Lowe of Caldwell, Ohio, Jane (Virgil) Thompson of Summerfield, Ohio, Alice (Richard) Piatt of Graysville, Ohio, and Marilyn Poland of Pleasant City, Ohio; three brothers, Paul (Maureen) Dimmerling of Caldwell, Ohio, Bill Dimmerling of Carlisle, Ohio, and Gary (Susie) Dimmerling of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Diane Carpenter and special friend Jerry Wheeler of Belle Valley, Ohio; special nieces, Akerrius (Jason) Harmon, Annika Carpenter; great- nephew, Jerrason Harmon; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family.

     Abiding with the State of Ohio recommendations for social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic, a private visitation will be held for family only at St. Michael Catholic Church, Carlisle, Ohio on Tuesday, April 14, 2020.

     Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery in Carlisle, Ohio with Fr. Wayne Morris officiating.

     In lieu of flowers, any donations or contributions can be made to the St. Michael’s Carlisle Cemetery Fund Perpetual Care, P.O. Box 286, Caldwell, OH 43724.

     Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Watters Funeral Home, Woodsfield, Ohio.
