Norma Lee Wilson-Smith “Duchess Wilson” of Proctor, West Virginia left this world on September 27, 2025 at the WVU Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, West Virginia.
Norma was born at New Martinsville, West Virginia on March 22, 1944 a daughter of the late Harry L. and Florence Ada Bassett Morgan Wilson.
Norma had many accomplishments in life but one of her greatest achievements was being proud of raising her granddaughter while being legally blind.
Norma lost her eyesight at the age of 32 but she didn’t lose her love for animals, dancing, cooking, traveling laughing with loved ones and sitting in the sun with a cold one.
In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her daughter, Jodie Renee’ Smith; three sisters, Mary Purkey, Nelie Ruble, and Juanita Maury; four brothers, Robert “Bob” Morgan, Johnny Morgan, Jim Morgan and Charles Wilson.
Norma is survived by a son, R.J. (Shelly) Smith, a sister, Geraldine Cross, her long-time man and other half, Roger.
She also leaves behind a few special granddaughters, Jocie (Tommy) Smith, Jas Stewart, Tracy (Merel) Hall and two very special great-grandchildren, Tyson and Landon; several other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will deeply miss her.
There was no visitation or services. A cremation took place with inurnment at the convenience of the family.
