Onward Warren Barkes, 79, of Caldwell, Ohio (Carlisle Community) passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the Marietta Memorial Hospital, Marietta, Ohio.
He was born in New Martinsville, West Virginia on April 27, 1939 a son of the late Oliver and Lillian Deitrich Barkes.
He was a retired beef luggar for Superior Meats, Massillon, Ohio. He was also a former Marshall for the Village of Summerfield, Ohio many years ago. He enjoyed hunting and watching sports.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Scott Barkes; six sisters, Pauline Fair, Louise Reed, Ruth Barnett, Dorothy Frayer, Jessie Yannayan and Olive Barkes; one brother, Loman Barkes.
Surviving are his wife Lillian Lucille Beegle Barkes whom he married on August 23, 1959; two daughters, Chris (Melvyn) Feldner of Carlisle, Ohio, Kathy (David) Bridgeman of Hannibal, Ohio; one son, Jim (Lori) Barkes of Massillon, Ohio; seven grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Brubach-Watters Funeral Home, 202 Main Street, Summerfield, Ohio from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2019 with Jim Moore officiating.
Inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family.
