Richard D. Smith

      Richard D. Smith, 67, of Summerfield, Ohio passed away Sunday, December 23, 2018 at the Marietta Memorial Hospital, Marietta, Ohio.

     He was born in Madison, West Virginia on April 9, 1951 a son of the late Velty and Delilah Smith.

     He was a retired oil and gas well tender and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

     He enjoyed wood working, making canes, working on lawn mowers, watching Alaska: The Last Frontier on T.V., and most especially spending time with his grandkids.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Harold Booth; four sisters, Robin Booth, Rebecca Lynn Phillips, Dottie Sue Purselley, and Betty Smith; three brothers, Gregory Smith, Dallas Smith, and Larry Smith.

     Surviving are his fiancé, Shelia Silva of Summerfield, Ohio; four daughters, Denise Silva of Zanesville, Ohio, Britni (Matthew) Sargent of Dexter City, Ohio, Sara (Nathan) Wells of Lewisville, Ohio, Lindsay Williams of Miltonsburg, Ohio; one son, Joshua Silva of Woodsfield, Ohio and his companion, Joni McGarry; one sister, Annetta Cooper of Hamlin, West Virginia; three brothers, Harold Douglas Booth Jr. of Marietta, Ohio, Dennis “Rocky” Smith of Griffithsville, West Virginia, Ronnie Smith of Kentucky; and fourteen grandchildren.

     Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from noon until time of services at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2018 with Minister Chris Steele officiating.

     Burial will follow in the Stafford Cemetery, Stafford, Ohio.
