Shirley E. Merckle

     Shirley E. Merckle, 86, of New Matamoras, Ohio passed away Sunday, January 20, 2019 at her home.

     She was born in Marietta, Ohio on March 29, 1932 a daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah Mugrage Janeda.

     Shirley was a homemaker and enjoyed living on the farm. She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Church, Trail Run, Ohio and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star #261, New Matamoras, Ohio. She enjoyed gardening, watching the river boats on the Ohio River and most especially spending time with her family.

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles David Merckle on September 19, 2017; a son, Clyde Merckle; two brothers, Bill and Steve Janeda; and a sister, Marian Hendricks.

     Surviving are two daughters, Shelley (Roger Ferguson) Warner of New Matamoras, Ohio, Shirley (Rod) Brozstek of New Matamoras, Ohio; two sons, Charles (Dianne) Merckle of New Matamoras, Ohio, Carl (Alicia Carricarte) Merckle of New Matamoras, Ohio; one sister, Ellen Hensel of New Matamoras, Ohio; three brothers, Robert Janeda of Supply, North Carolina, Joe Janeda of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Jim Janeda of Shadyside, Ohio; eight grandchildren including, Stephanie Warner, Marlena Kress, Joshua Merckle, Dane (Christina Dick) Merckle, Jared (Chandra) Merckle, and David Merckle; four great grandchildren, Kolton Merckle, Zachery Haney, Wesley Haney, and Aubrey Kress.

     Friends will be received at St. Paul’s Evangelical Church, 43936 Joe Frobish Road, Sardis, Ohio from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2019 with Terry Pringle officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Paul’s Cemetery, near Sardis, Ohio.
