Susan Kay English

Susan Kay English, 78, of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, West Virginia.

She was born at Coshocton, Ohio on August 19, 1943 a daughter of the late Robert and Dorothy Dillon Hackley.

She was a retired special education teacher for 36 years, having taught at the former Wayne School, the former Fly School and the Monroe County Developmental Disabilities.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Woodsfield, Ohio where she taught childrens church and was a participant of the United Methodist Womens and Quilters Group; a member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 1569, Woodsfield, Ohio and the Ohio Retired Teachers Association; an advocate of those with special needs; enjoyed playing cards, traveling and spending time with family and making the best chocolate chip cookies.

Susan had a strong faith in God throughout her 17 years of her illness and would always say, “God is good.”

Surviving are her husband, Dale E. English whom she married on October 26, 1964; one daughter, Tammy (Brent) Cox of Shadyside, Ohio; one son, Dale II (Angela) English of LaGrange, Kentucky; one brother, Robert (Judy) Hackley of Poland, Ohio; five grandchildren, Kelsey (Val) Ravin; Kayla (Paul) Yoculan; Kylie (Michael) Wilson, Ciara Robinson, Trey English; two great-grandchildren, Kestrel Robinson, Finn Robinson; and honorary granddaughter, Sadie Lucas.

Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 23, 2021 where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 24, 2021 with Rev. David Cottrill and Rusty Atkinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield, Ohio.
