Thomas Eugene Stephens, 82, a longtime resident of Lewisville before relocating to Canal Winchester, peacefully went to be with His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 25, 2021 after a period of declining health.
He was the son of the late John R. and Mildred Marie Nalley Stephens of Woodsfield, and the eldest among his 14 siblings. He had been a welder at Ormet, retiring after more than 32 years of service. Upon relocating to the Columbus area, he became a member of Calvary Apostolic Church. Throughout his lifetime he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing his guitars, watching wrestling, and was skilled in automotive/metal work and carpentry.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Barbara Jean, his second wife, Zelda, two sisters, Nancy Truax and Mary Yoho, and infant great grandson, Gideon Stephens.
Surviving are his three children, Cindy (Ned) Snyder of Wintersville, Kim (Rev. Steven) Smith of Wooster, and Greg (Trisha) Stephens of Canal Winchester, Ohio. Five brothers, Bill, Jeff, Joe, Rick and Gary Stephens. Seven sisters, Sue Lederberger, Helen Ward, Barbara Kendall, Dorothy Elliott, Judy Mellott, Rita Hanes and Debbie Ward. Eight grandchildren, Courtney, Lindsey, Kelsey, Derek, Gentry, Ashley, Gerad and Gabrielle. Nine great grandchildren Kirsten, Makay, Ty, Moses, Addie, Judah, Amelia, Behrington and Maximus.
Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday, November 1, 2021 where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday November 2, 2021 with Pastor Steven Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery, Lewisville, Ohio.
