Vernon Emerson Morgan, 86, of Graysville, Ohio passed away Friday, January 18, 2019 at his home following an extended illness.
He was born near Graysville, Ohio on February 16, 1932 a son of the late Payton and Ida White Morgan.
Vernon was a farmer his entire life with a great love for all animals especially his goats. He was a former Washington Township Trustee with 8 years of service and was also a former fireman for the Graysville and Community Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a former grounds keeper and grave digger for many cemeteries in the area for over 40 years. He always said that was the last thing he could do for people in the area. Vernon never met a stranger and always tried to be good to everyone that he met.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Morgan; two half-brothers; two half-sisters; and two grandsons, Terry and Jerry Morgan.
Surviving are his wife, Bessie Kindle Morgan whom he married on June 19, 1965; one son, Charles (Edith) Morgan of Graysville, Ohio; two grandchildren, William “Billy” (Amanda) Howell of Lewisville, Ohio, Darla (Daniel) Buck of Williamstown, West Virginia; and two great granddaughters.
Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 21, 2019 where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2019 with Keith Jones officiating.
Burial will follow in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, near Graysville, Ohio.
