Virginia E. “Gen” Dougherty, 93, of New Matamoras, Ohio (formerly of Sycamore Valley, Ohio) passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021 at the home of her daughter in Fly, Ohio.
She was born near Woodsfield, Ohio on November 30, 1927 a daughter of the late Jacob Forest Koehler and Florence Smith Koehler Powell.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
She enjoyed gardening, animals and reading her Bible.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Dougherty in 1987; two sons, Howard and Don Dougherty; one brother and three sisters.
Surviving are one daughter, Sharon (Randy) Barrows of New Matamoras, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Sandy Dougherty of Texas; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation. As per Virginia’s request, cremation will take place with inurnment at the convenience of the family at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near Graysville, Ohio.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Watters Funeral Home, Woodsfield, Ohio.
