Wayne D. Henthorn, 88, of Woodsfield, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio after a short battle with Covid-19.
He was born near Woodsfield, Ohio on November 23, 1933 a son of the late Carl and Margaret Craig Henthorn.
Wayne was a 1951 graduate of Green Local School and was Salutatorian of his class. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army from which he was honorably discharged. He retired from the Ormet Corporation after 38 years of service. After he retired, he was instrumental in the founding of the Randall Gallagher Memorials, Inc. where he worked as a salesman for many years. He was a Christian by faith, having been an active member of the Church of Christ, Cameron, Ohio. His faith was first in his life and was not only evident in his love for his family, but was always portrayed in his outstanding ability at leading very personalized and meaningful prayers when called upon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Jim, Lonnie and Kermit Henthorn; his father and mother-in-law, Samuel and Ferne Rothenbuhler, and a great granddaughter, Callie Gallagher.
Surviving are his loving wife of 64 years, Dorothy E. Rothenbuhler Henthorn; four children, Lisa (Randy) Gallagher of St. Clairsville, Ohio; Douglas (Valerie) Henthorn of Hebron, Ohio; Greg (Stephanie) Henthorn of Mokena, Illinois; Brian (Narissa) Henthorn of Woodsfield, Ohio; one brother, Vernon “Red” Henthron of Woodsfield, Ohio; two sisters, Sherry (Steve) Wilson of Woodsfield, Ohio and Jeanie Dawson of New Martinsville, West Virginia; ten grandchildren, Tiffany Hay; Lindsay (Tim) McKeen; Justin (Rebecca) Gallagher, Abbey Henthorn, Jessica, Christopher, Nathan and Jenna Henthorn, Aaron and Rachel Henthorn; eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 13, 2021.
Friends will then be received at the Cameron Church of Christ, Cameron, Ohio from 12:00 p.m. until time of Military and funeral services at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2021 with Tim Fleeman officiating.
Burial will follow in the Cameron Cemetery, Cameron, Ohio.
At the request of the family, visitors are asked to wear a mask at visitation and funeral services.
