William E. "Bill" Briggs

      William E. “Bill” Briggs, 80, of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away Saturday, August 30, 2025 at the Arbors of Woodsfield, Ohio.

     He was born at Antioch, Ohio on October 17, 1944 a son of the late Lawrence E. and Mildred E. Hartman Briggs.

     Bill was a retired employee of the Village of Woodsfield, Ohio street department; former coal miner; a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ near Lewisville, Ohio.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Dianne Coss Briggs on June 7, 2014; two half-brothers, Ike Beardmore and Randy Beardmore.

     Surviving are one daughter, Michele Dianne Arnold of Woodsfield, Ohio; one son, Michael Edward (Kathleen) Briggs of Massillon, Ohio; two brothers, Larry Briggs of Tennessee, Gary Briggs of Washington State, two half-sisters, Ann and Patty; two grandchildren, Janey King, Dillon King; one great-grandson, Porter; a sister-in-law, Rita Coss Wallick of Dover, Ohio.

     Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78, Woodsfield, Ohio from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Saturday, September 6, 2025 where funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, September 7, 2025.

     Burial will follow in the Miltonsburg Cemetery, Miltonsburg, Ohio with military graveside services.
