          Harold L. Carpenter, 81, of Lowell, Ohio passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017 at the Marietta Memorial Hospital, Marietta, Ohio.

          He was born in Marietta, Ohio on March 6, 1936 a son  of the late Oatie and Mary Mathers Carpenter.
          Harold was a former employee of John Deere, Marietta, Ohio and retired from his own excavating business in 2001. He was a U.S. Army veteran; a member of the American Legion Post 64, Marietta, Ohio; a member of the Masterton Lodge #429, F & A.M., Lebanon, Ohio; a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Masterton Chapter, Lebanon, Ohio; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Cambridge; Washington County Scottish Rite; Aladdin Shrine Temple, Columbus, Ohio; Marietta Shrine; member of the Forty & Eight, Marietta, Ohio; N.R.A. and was currently serving as a board member on the Highland Ridge Water Association for the past 27 years.

          Surviving are his wife, Nora Williams Carpenter, whom he married on April 27, 1959; one daughter, Cheryl (Kelly) Morris of Marietta, Ohio; and one grandson, Bradley Heath (Elizabeth) Morris of Vincent, Ohio.

          Friends will be received at the Hadley Funeral Home (Reno Chapel), 1021 Pike Street Marietta, Ohio  from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 11, 2017, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 12, 2017 with Pastor Don Hart officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Ridge Cemetery, near Lowell, Ohio with full military graveside services. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watters Funeral Home, Woodsfield, Ohio.           Masonic and Eastern Star services will be held Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
