          Ray D. Baker, 84, of Alliance, Ohio (formerly of Woodsfield, Ohio) passed away Monday, October 23, 2017 at the home of his daughter in Alliance, Ohio.

          He was born in Woodsfield, Ohio on December 2, 1932 a son of the late Martin Western Baker and Francis Lula Ricer Baker.

          Ray was a retired die setter for Union Metal, Canton, Ohio with 32 years of services.  He was a member of the former First Free Methodist Church, Woodsfield, Ohio; a U.S. Marine Sergeant serving during the Korean War, and a member of the V.F.W. Post 5303, Woodsfield, Ohio.

          In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Catherine Stevens and five brothers, George, Claude, John, Paul, and Ed Baker.

          Surviving are his wife, Carol Haudenschield Baker whom he married on November 23, 1955; one daughter, Louise A. (Wendall) Scarbrough of Alliance, Ohio; one son, Steven E. Baker of St. Clairsville, Ohio; three brothers, Charles Baker of Marietta, Ohio, Floyd Baker of Woodsfield, Ohio, Martin Baker of Woodsfield, Ohio; three grandchildren, Larry Scarbrough, Greg (Bonnie) Scarbrough, Heather (Ryan) Sick; three great grandchildren, Landon Ray Scarbrough, Luke Thomas Scarbrough, Jacob Ryan Sick; several nieces and nephews.

          Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 27, 2017 with Rev. Nate Gibbons officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Cemetery, Antioch, Ohio.

Am so saddened to hear of Ray's passing. Have known him since I was a kid. He could always make me laugh when I would see him. My deepest sympathy goes out to his family, friends and all who loved him
